Shakespeare Uncovered

Still enjoying Shakespeare Uncovered (the first ep with Joely Richardson studying Shakespeare's women was wonderful and she was so charming, as was her mum). Am just up to the second ep, where Ethan Hawke of all people is trying to uncover Macbeth, is bloody *hilarious*. Ah, youngish American dude of clearly... er... well, not exactly genius levels of intelligence trying to get Shakespeare. I'm just looking at this guy and want to pet him on the head like a wee puppy because aww, he is trying so hard to do some thinking and trying to be smart and ahahahaha. D'aww. Just the IQ level of this approach is kind of... erm... different, let's just say that. It's hilarious that it's a srs bzns BBC Four docu and then Hawke can only kind of manage History Channel levels. *Bless* him. You can really tell the difference between acting traditions on different sides of the Atlantic there, too. Just about all the Brits in the docus are really cerebral and intelligent and deep about this stuff (and that's what I love about British drama and Shakespeare).

But oh yeah, in a couple of weeks I fully expect there will be levels of uber-braininess when Dave's episode comes on. Maybe it's good they didn't do one with Hiddles, because he'd probably braingasm all over this stuff as well.

Also, the slightly pirateish-looking 17th century scholar dude needs to take me out to dinner. Where can I pull an eccentric British academic?
