Whoa.
River's characterisation keeps getting more and more interesting and epic. Man, Moff just keeps throwing in all kinds of new stuff with a breakneck speed. And I'm not complaining. It's really fascinating stuff. Psycho!River was shocking but also interesting. It's like... dude, when they have a character like that in existence, I hope they won't bring the Master back while she's around, because the Doctor/River relationship brings in so many similar aspects, especially when they keep adding in the darker shades. And they are exactly the sort of aspects I love in all my favourite 'ships--ambivalence, love-hate, messed-up stuff but also a lot of fun and humour and a sizzling amount of chemistry.
Also, the whole thing about the Doctor thinking he's dying and his mortality and what he felt and what he did... that was so good, and so healing, after all the crap we had with Ten. I mean, it's not like they were hammering the guilt home at all with the companion flashbacks, no sirree, but damn it, I think the companions and the audience were owed that apology. And the fact that he was being clownish and humorous and altruistic all the way to the end--to his very last minutes, wanting to help his friends--hell yes, that's the Doctor I know and love. I was wibbling with joy from that and HOW AM I EVER GOING TO COPE WHEN MATT LEAVES? D:
BRB, off to make gifs of Matt in a top hat and cane twirling around like a dork. <3
