I *told* you guys--herbs have their uses

Just wanted to point out that if you're scared of swine flu and such, make sure you've got some star anise handy (100% essential oils would be the best). I've been telling people for *years* about the fact that it works on flu and now I've discovered it actually is the thing Tamiflu is made of:P. So, yeah, don't knock 'em essential oils--some of them are hardcore. I even discovered that anise thing by accident about ten years ago when I was staying at a friend's place and had come down with bad flu. She put some anise oil in a diffuser overnight in the room I was sleeping in and I got better much quicker than usual--I felt really good the next morning. Usually eucalyptus and minty oils and those things just help you breathe a bit, and that's great, but this time even my fever went down and it was just at the start of the flu--and it usually takes me ages to recover from even the smallest colds. So, yeah. SKIENZE PROVES I WAS RIGHT.

Of course, it's bloody difficult to *find* the 100% essential oil, and I hear the prices of the herb itself have skyrocketed because of the swine flu epidemic... but still. Must replenish supplies just in case. Of course, it isn't the same thing as a refined drug, but better than nothing, since medications and vaccinations aren't yet easily available to the general public. I've generally found essential oils really good when various types of bugs get resitant to the usual treatments. Oh, the nits I got off some kids in Southampton were the fucking best--the bastards were resistant to every type of over-the-counter poison, and I only got rid of the fuckers by putting 100% lavender oil into my shampoo for a week or two. Lavender's also good for burns and cuts (it heals the skin so fast it reduces scarring to a minimum) and warding off moths and everything ever.

Anyway. Enough herbal blatherings. Shall see if I can find anise oil online...

essential oils, herbal crap ftw, health, interesting links
