Yeah. And the scenes aren't even all that extensive--I wish we'd seen more sword action. WHICH IS CLEARLY WHY SIMM NEEDS TO COME BACK AS THE MASTER AND HAVE THAT SWORDFIGHT WITH THE DOCTOR. I will keep repeating this until it fuckin' happens, damn it.

And I was really expecting it to be Not That Good becuse, well, romance novel premise of super-attractive, capable, strong chick, chick knows various historical figures, nobody is able to resist her, etc... and they did fuck up some of the history, but I got the feeling it was mostly for valid narrative purposes. Like that whole tease/suspicion of Cromwell having ordered Rainsborough's assassination, which he probably didn't, but it *was* an actual rumour at the time. I was going to compare it to By The Sword Divided, but that's not necessarily a fair comparison since they were different lengths and Devil's Ho was like 100000000 times more melodramatic and it definitely took moral/political sides--the whole style was different. They sort of both exist in my head now, overlapping, as my images of certain Civil War era events and people.
