I fail at this being a girl business.

I had henna fail today. I NEVER HAVE HENNA FAIL:(. Should've picked the more 'spensive brand, godsdamn it, but the stuff's expensive here even in immigrant shops:(. The really good brand I like, Zarqa, is like 40p in the UK and... 3.60e here for a 100g packet. Ripoff. So I had to go for a slightly shittier sort in big bags because I generally need ( Read more... )

rl, fail

You had a shopping WIN with that jumper. Go you.

It wasn't anything special, just a slightly worn plain jumper! But it looked nice on me, which is something that doesn't happen often if you're a lardy midget. There was a whole table full of Gothy clothes, all of which were ten sizes too small for me and I was swearing under my breath when fondling them. Even if I'll keep losing weight steadily, it'll probably be at least a year before I'll fit into clothes that are actually pretty.

I tried henna once and it failed horribly because I think the person doing it for me was just an idiot or something. I haven't tried it again because of that, but I might in the future. My hair's sort of a chocolate-ginger now, and sometimes I wish I could also get that Donnaesque color because it was so very lovely.

Sounds like a great deal with the jumper, though. Sometimes flea markets really do have amazing things. I haven't been to one in ages.

Henna is usually awesome if you can find the good stuff and just mix it to the right consistency with orange juice and rub it in properly and wrap your head in clingfilm for 30-45 mins. This stuff was just way too lumpy or otherwise crap so I couldn't get it to the right consistency no matter how I tried--it became either too dry or too wet for the colour to stick. Grar. Usually I use the sort that's meant for hennaing hands because it's so fine and mixes well.

All of my best clothes are from fleamarkets or charity shops or have been otherwise scavenged. My winter coat's like... 50 years old and so much better than most crappy modern ones. They made things to last in them olden days.

I'll get you decent henna in Bradford or Middlesborough - both have big Indian communities -before the con and bring it for you. I usually use it but will need to go black for the Londo costume.

Oooh, no need to do that! I am sure I can find some on my own while I'm there--if I even have the means to bring such a big amount back (I really do need ten packs and so on). And I have bigger things to bring back from the UK, sadly, so I'm worried I won't have enough space in my bags anyway:S. Plus, I'm only bothering to dye my hair because I'm travelling to Redemption, so all of that should be done before the con anyway. But thanks for offering!

I had hair colour fail recently, too. I was having to touch up my roots (well, more than just roots), and after everything most of my hair was nice and pretty and black, but at the top of my head and around the hair-line I am still obviously blond. I don't know why! I've never fucked-it up that much before, and I've been doing this for years.

I'm giving it another go today in a little bit.

Well, I'm absolutely sure you look stunning and very hot in that colour hair, too.

I do not, it's so weird. It's just sort of... obviously halfway done and badly dyed, the sort that screams "dye fail". Usually I can do it so well that people think it's my natural colour, so that's a bit blah. I am supposed to be good at this thing, damn it!
