The 2008 National Geographic Wild Animal Photo of the year: a snow leopard in... snow!

Now, what I find interesting about these is that when I look at several of these, my mind starts screaming "obviously Photoshopped", even when they aren't. That just goes to show how unusual the lighting is, really. Especially the first one where the leopard is really brightly lit and is coming out of a dark background and the mountains behind it are so small--if I didn't know better, I'd count those as obvious Photoshop flaws! But it's interesting that you can come up with such striking pics without digital post-processing.

That, and now I know I've definitely spent too much time in Photoshop. Not that consistent lights and shadows are a bad thing, but dude. I can't even decide if I like the pics, even if the settings and the subject(s) are most definitely awesome and well captured (camera traps or not).

Also, Noki purred hard and sniffed the screen when I was browsing those photos. As was to be expected.
