Huh. I know it's a stereotype, but I assume New Yawk accents to sound... like Joey from Friends? Not very RP British with a slight tinge of Northern stretching and Finnish, like mine, so erm. Upper Michigan would be the place with most Finnish descendants, so maybe other Finns will get that?
I do wonder if the bit of North English people have told me I have is the result from Scandinavian influence in the area? Because Swedish has long wovels like Finnish does, although not as ridiculously often.
