ADAW 19/52 - Milk

This is my entry for Resin Aperture this month! The theme is high-key photography, which was *really* hard for me… I’m a high-contrast kinda girl!

Doing this prompt a little early because it matches up with the Resin Aperture theme!

Victor was warm and comfortable. He didn’t want to wake up. But there was a weight on his chest, as if he couldn’t breathe. He wondered if he might be catching a cold or feeling impending doom. When he finally dragged his eyes open, he realized he’d dozed off on the couch at Leo’s house, and Françoise had made herself at home sitting on top of him. She seemed to have been there a while, but had slumped over awkwardly, trying to get her face closer to her book as the light faded.

“Hello,” she said. “What were you dreaming about?”

“A bright queen who offered me a glass of milk.”

“Bright queen like the White Witch or bright queen like Galadriel?”

“Yes,” he replied, closing his eyes again.

“Yes,” Françoise murmured, leaning over him, her breath ghosting over his ear, “is not an answer to a question with two choices.”
