Yesterday we went to my 6 week followup appointment (3 hour drive each way! x.x) with the neurosurgeon. He had us go get x-rays done before the appointment to see how my back is progressing. He said that my back looks great, and that I can stop wearing the corset now unless my back gets tired. Even though I'm glad to finally not have to wear it, it's kind of weird not having it on, lol, and it did have a side effect of inadvertent waist training...I lost over 2 inches from my waist. I'm hoping that's not a temporary thing, but now that I'm healing well, I should be able to get more active and start losing the weight I gained while I was injured. :}
I have another followup scheduled in another 6 weeks, along with more x-rays. He seems to be a very conscientious doctor, wanting to make sure I keep healing up right. There were other people there yesterday who also had surgery, and they all said what a fantastic surgeon he is. That really makes me feel confident that I will heal very well. :}
I still have some nerve, hip joint and muscle pain, but he said that's pretty normal at this point since my posture has changed for the better since the surgery. All those muscles and joints are complaining a bit at the change and the nerves are still healing/coming back to life after being pinched for so long. I finally get to pick my kitties up! No more lifting less than 10 pounds. :D
And I noticed when I woke up this morning that I was in very little pain, as opposed to the last few weeks. Last night was my first night sleeping without the corset on, so I'm wondering if it contributed a lot to the pain I was in. o.o
