Mini-theme: Veela fics (angsty)
Gotta have a rec list or two for Drarry Veela fics, don't I? This first set is all angsty (though the authors may sprinkle some dark humor in along with their angst too). Tomorrow's set will be light-hearted and humorous Veela fics instead :)

Super good. Intense, smutty, with awesome dirty talk and well developed characterizations. I felt all sorts of empathy for Draco, even though he was just so stubborn about it all! And it made sense that he had subconsciously been waiting all this time for Harry - it explains why he so conveniently showed up in Harry's life the moment Harry was available. Very well done story.

Summary: Harry Potter discovers he has Veela blood, which requires him to have contact with his "mate" in the form of some sort of physical touching or else he will wither and die. Of course, his mate turns out to be someone extraordinarily unsuitable - Draco Malfoy, who is only too gleeful to finally have something that Harry Potter needs.

Summary: Sequel to High-Priced, sort of. If you read High Priced and wondered why Draco was so evil... well this might open your eyes. This is Draco's version.
Such an original set of stories. Few other authors have written Harry as a Veela rather than Draco, and I don't know if any have done it so well as this. (Draco's decision to charge Harry for every touch, kiss, etc. is the kind of characterization I am here for!) After I finished the original, I just wanted to know more of Malfoy's side, and thankfully there's a sequel for that! I quite like the retelling from Malfoy's POV too :)

Is it just Harry's imagination, or is his worst enemy harbouring a secret? Harry finds out about Draco's new side and definitely doesn’t want to help. But it's not really up to him.
It's 8th year and it's a Veela fic, and it's in turns sweet, hot, and lightly funny and what's not to like? You get a possessive!Draco who is also contrite and self-sacrificing, and a clueless!Harry who is also needy and unsure. Hermione and Ron are likeable and in character too, which is always a plus.

Summary: Malfoy has wings.
The original is from Draco's POV: lovely and haunting, and by the end, pretty sexy too :) The remix is a retelling of the original story from Harry's POV, and has terrific self-deprecating humor. Both are great reads.

I really enjoyed this! I'm a sucker for the whole Veela trope, and this was a great example of all the things I love about it: pining!Draco self-sacrificing!Draco and oblivious!Harry. Yum :)
Harry was really thick here, but I loved how understanding slowly dawned on him and how he started to finally *get* Draco. And him complaining that sex with a Veela wasn't as great as it had been made out to be was pretty funny too - if Draco didn't love the git so much he'd probably have to kill him for that ♥
Just oh! why did it have to end so soon? I wanted more!

Summary: Harry defeated Voldemort: his act of heroism is famous throughout the wizarding world. He’s trying to finish his final year at Hogwarts in peace, but something peculiar is happening to him, something he never would have expected. It's all rather embarrassing and making his life very complicated.
Nicely written, complex exploration of the whole creature!fic theme. They both are creatures, and both resist as much as they can, but Harry bows sooner. Classic fic.
