Rec list for all the tropes :)

Yesterday Vaysh got everyone on a Trope Meme kick, which was tons of fun. And then in a comment thread, she went and said: "It would actually be fun to make rec lists of fics to go with the trope. It would take ages, though. :)
So you know me. If Vaysh makes an off-hand comment, I'm tempted to go do the thing :) (see: Who Tops More?)

Hm! We sadly don't have many Coffee House AUs. We have Black Coffee on a Lonely Night, by femmequixotic, which is pretty much fantastic, and then perhaps Pret-a-Partenaire by nqdonne? Oh, and Coffee by writcraft.

Also, we do have a few Muggle Uni AUs in which the boys are actually wizards! :D Along The Way (The Time Has Come), by laurelgreengras is a great one, and Beneath Boundless Skies by blamebrampton.

I took that poll yesterday! Surprised darkfic tropes were completely ignored by it though. Also, whores -- come on, whore!Draco is my favourite trope ever! But well, I guess perhaps they're not as common in other fandoms? :) No idea.

I love that story! It's been around for ages, but I swear I can't stop reccing it because it's GORGEOUS (also, yum, all the talk about politics!) I was going to say it's one of my favourite stories from femme, but considering every story she's ever written has been my favourite until she posted a new one it actually seemed a bit pointless. LOL. What is my life...

THAT STORY! It's the reason why Coffee House AUs give me a warm feeling even when I don't like AUs, usually.

Here's where I have to embarrassingly admit that I haven't read "Black Coffee" (see above where I mention that coffee house AUs aren't my thing). I've seen it recced everywhere, and I keep meaning to read it (and I love femme's fics too!) it's just that I mostly don't enjoy non-magical AUs, so every time I think "maybe I'll read this now" I put it off and read something else.

I have literally read over a thousand fics but not that one. I'm terrible.

They're rarely non-magical though -- well, granted, femme's definitely is, but that's a rarity, I think. I mean, generally, the very few we've got, they seem to be (more often than not, because yeah, there are definitely some that are completely non-magical, but more often than not) about one of them being sick of his life, deciding to open a café in the Muggle world (while still being a wizard), running into the other one in the Muggle world (generally Draco, who's been exiled after the war or something, etc.)

I'd link you more but... afraid it's not my favourite trope either :( I've read a few more over the years, but those are really the only ones I ever saved.

You're right about them being mostly non-magical AUs. And I've read some of these too, but they often aren't my faves either. It probably doesn't help that I don't actually like coffee? I'm so weird! But it means that when an author goes into detail about the mechanics of making/serving/ordering coffee, my eyes kinda glaze over :) I don't get any of it!

I do like tea though :)
