Ugh. The Internet has been made of fail lately. I can't figure out why on earth the wireless has gone nutsy again - direct connections with my laptop work fine, and sometimes the network would be up (not often, but true). I wondered if there was some kind of EMP surge in the area or some other nonsense. A flatmate had another wireless router, and I set that up using a different channel, and... after half an hour of waiting... it mysteriously started successfully broadcasting. For now. This makes rather little sense, just like some of my fun setup the Internet troubles at work (luckily resolved today? Because? Hopefully it'll stay resolved?).
In other news... who's this mysterious man? And why has he never appeared in the same photograph as
cruel_angel?
Ah, the New Big Wang restaurant, a fine upstanding Chinatown establishment. Not quite as upstanding as the various bubble tea spots, but pretty darn upstanding. In related news, the St. Mark's geekery / old video games shop was found... again... since it's now moved from St. Mark's. Allegedly twice. Huh. The topic of which U.S. cover was worse between
Phantasy Star IV and
Phantasy Star II came up. Now I've not actually played either game, but they both feature violently out-of-tone art for games going for an animey art style. I say PS4's is worse, while the mysterious man says PS2. They can both be checked thanks to the Magic of the Interweb: You decide! (Also, I wimped out and decided not to get owned at the Chinatown Arcade. I should have been brave. Oh well.)
On Sunday, I went off to an Ober-picnic, except
darthhowie bailed and I didnt' really recognize anyone else. Nice turnout from the very recent grads ('06 and onward) and weirdly enough from those around '94-'97, but not a whole lot in the '03 range. It was a "bring your own picnic" thing, except I didn't bring a picnic but rather a book. And that was okay. So was walking about Prospect Park, which I hadn't done in too much depth before. Then, some exploration of Brooklyn. Since I hadn't eaten by around 3:00, I was properly prepared for way
too much diner food. Then, random exploration of Brooklyn involving purchasing a 1-dollar can opener and a random collection of 70's science fiction. I bring this up mostly for the prospect of this picture from a store, which vastly amuses me for some reason.
