The meaning of the word "subtle."

Feb 08, 2005 12:22

The hardboiled private eye sits down at McAnally's (what the hell kind of name is that? Is this a porn movie? Speaking of which, you all heard that Justice Rehnquist might be Deep Throat, right? This has been around before, but the evidence seems to be getting stronger. That'd be awesome if he was.) and gets sidetracked by parenthetical notation. After ordering, the hot female reporter sits next to him, leans really far over with a V-necked low cut shirt, later kisses him, and fires off a rapid fire stream of questions he shouldn't answer. Then she asks him if he could meet her at a fancy restraunt Saturday night. "No- uh, what?" comes the reply. "Great, see you then, jacket & tie." It won't be an interrogation, just "a meeting between two people who are mutually attracted to each other." She kisses him and leaves.

Said hard-boiled detective then muses on how he thinks he's all sly and subtle, but he hasn't got anything on those subtle women.

Subtle? Subtle? That was about as subtle as Rinoa. (Sure, maybe there are ulterior motives- information, planting poison lipstick on his cheek, whatever- but that was about as overt as a.... umm... a person who's really overt.)

End minor rant. Will do Thomas's next.
