The time has come to say goodbye to 20 Lily Pond Ct. Yes, it's true, the move that has been in the making for the past almost decade has finally occurred. On Friday, November 11 2005, on the 26th anniversary of my parents' move into 20 Lily Pond Ct, the Meyers family was relocated to 9248 Cambridge Manor Ct in Potomac, Maryland. We had our first Shabbat, which consisted of Chicken out and paper plates along with no wine for the Kiddish because my Grandfather could not find the bottle opener anywhere. Everything was in boxes. It felt very strange. The dogs were freaking out. They thought we were abandoning them and they were rather confused.
After dinner, Ry and I went down to the "Lower Level", we are not allowed to call it the basement according to my mother, to play some pool. My parents came downstairs because they wanted to try out the entertainment system, so we all watched The Witness. After the movie, we came back upstairs were my Father sat down at the piano to officially make the first night in the new house the first night. I sat next to him on the bench while Ry and my mom sat by the fire. It was pretty incredible...strange, but nice. I don't know. It'll feel weird when after a while I realize I'm not going back Home for Shabbat anymore. This house will be amazing though, and it is where hundreds and thousands of Shabbats and family gatherings will take place(with my brothers' and my children too...scary thought huh?) Anyways, just thought I'd let you all know that the move actually happened. I'll have everybody over at some point, though I'm not sure when. Growing up is strange.
