Happy Belated New Year's!

Jan 05, 2010 16:05

I hope everyone enjoyed/survived the holidays! Despite the awkwardness of the first post-separation Christmas I did have a very nice break. It helped that Dad was out of town over actual Christmas; he was relaxing on a beach in San Juan for Christmas and New Year's! Of course, I'm sure he'll be flying somewhere horrid next month to make up for it.

My littlest brother Buckley's dog Chompers stayed at our house, and she destroyed the blinds in the front windows--I forgot that she must have them pulled up so that she can see out. However, they were horrible mini-blinds that needed replacing! John spent his Christmas money getting some new blinds for the whole house; we now have some classy faux-wood blinds! (Arts & Sciences and John's parents would have to cough up a LOT more money before we could have real wood blinds!) Buckley left some money on my desk, and called to tell me it was money for the blinds; he's a sweet kid.

Our own wayward huskybear has been ill-behaved.  In the past three weeks, she has made us late for a work Christmas function because she ran out into the rain, changed from white to orange by digging many new holes in an attempt to escape, terrorized Chompers, and roughed up our guests. My Christmas present to John was puppy classes, which start on the 17th. Maybe after 8 weeks of lessons, she'll be a better dog. I would really like her to be better behaved around other dogs--she will either bark nonstop at them in a jealous rage, or wet herself in terror. :(

in other news, this might be my last update. I am in serious danger of FREEZING TO DEATH this week. I am a delicate Southern lady, and I cannot survive a forecast like this: Low: 18°F RealFeel®: 3°F. It's not supposed to be this cold in Alabama EVER. I might have to move further south if this continues. When did global warming become global climate change? Global warming is a cause I believe in--screw the polar bears, pollute more! I need to be warm. It's supposed to snow on Thursday, which is disastrous. Thursday is the championship game! How can we have a football party if everyone is stranded by one inch of snow?
