Well, we've been out of Michigan for almost a week now...and its been a crazy one. DAY ONE: Left South Haven Wednesday morning and drove through Indiana, Illinois and Iowa before finally resting in Lincoln, Nebraska. DAY TWO: Got up early to drive through the rest of Nebraska (how increadibly boring) and into Colorado. Stayed the night in Denver and had dinner w/ an old high school classmate. Didn't really get to see the city, lots of construction and I didn't feel like driving anymore. DAY THrEE: Drove the through the mts of Colorado (very pretty) and to the very southwest corner of Utah to a town called Hurricane (approx 15 miles from Mt. Zion). It was a nice drive, pretty mts, plateaus, lots of color (desert). DAY FOUr: Left Utah and drove through the tip of Arizona into Nevada through Las Vegas into California. Passed through the Mojave Desert and some more mts and finally into Orange County.
I spent one whole day in Cali (Sunday) before leaving Monday morning for Utah again, this time Salt Lake City/Provo for trainging through Thursday evening. Friday I had a meeting/orientation with my sponsoring agency in Orange. Saturday we tried to find the frickin Goodwill to no avail, but I did get a new pair of pants and a couple of shirts for work...though I really need to work on my professional wardrobe.
Today we went to Huntington Beach...yay for a nice day! Next time we will definately take the bus. Its a state park, so to park there for the day would have been 10$.....which we didn't have. So we found all the silver in our car and fed a meter for about 2hrs worth of time. A bus would be 6$ round trip but worth it once you consider the drive/gas. It isn't that far (about 15 or so miles) but a lot of stop and go and my car likes to overheat.
Tomorrow I offically start my job. Previously, I thought that I was working in the school district, which I am but in an agency building. The Child and Family Comission of Orange County, which is actually now a state run program despite having OC in the name. So we shall see how that goes. Its just under 7 miles to work from my apt...hopefully traffic isn't that bad.
