Soah.

I never write in here. I think most of us can agree that depression is looked down upon. People who are happy all the time are in demand and looked highly upon.

Ignoring the pros, which is what I do, there's a few things people are missing.

Depression is usually caused by something. Instead of isolating that cause, we medicate. That makes part of the happy populous.

Not to sound like a conspiracy-nut... but it sounds like Drug companies reap the benefit of this "only losers are depressed" attitude in order to sell more happy pills.

Trust me, I know the pros. I'm conflicted and have been on them before.

But my point.. my idea is that depression is the effect of a cause. Why isn't the cause being treated? Seriously, I know what it is. This society... is just wrong. You can rattle off reasons why the US or western culture is awesome. But how many people appreciate it? Or understand. Or ever leave the country?

Sad thing I'm not much better. I could get myself out and about if I only saved up. I don't though. The fact that my parents did nothing for me, which is better than doing bad things to me, but worse than doing good things for me, should be enough motivation to travel.
