Husker Weekend - Part Two - The Bohemian Cafe

Oct 27, 2009 07:20

The Bohemian Cafe (http://www.bohemiancafe.net/ )has been in business for 85 years. And has been owned by the same Czech family for all of those years. My parents have been eating there for 48 years. A simply amazing place to eat.

We went there Sunday on the way home from Lincoln. The Cafe is in an "older" part of Omaha. Park across the street and go on in. That's my dad, Tracy, and my mom entering food heaven.

I always get the chicken liver dumpling soup to start. I know, it sounds gross, but it tastes so freaking good!

OK - the food photos aren't styled and the lighting doesn't show it off to it's best. But this food isn't for looking at, it's for getting into your mouth! My mom ordered Sauerbraten. I could post the photos of all the other food, but .... Anyway, notice the white-ish sliced stuff on the plate? Those are dumplings. They make them in big, tube like loafs and then slice them. If you can eat all the dumpling on your plate, you won't move for a week. You'll just lay there, absently rubbing your tummy - in pain, but smiling.

And that's me and the husband. Tracy was at his end with the photo taking, but I think it's a cute one of us.
