Journal entry....

I have to post the story from our show on Thursday. It was a super fun time.

We were supposed to be the "headliner" and our friend band Byrn was supposed to open for us...so it usually goes. Anyway, Byrn is sort of riding our coat tails a bit so we kind of decided that they need to headline a show. We wanted to give them the long set for once. So we went on first. Still didn't start until 10 though.

My aunt Teresa also came to watch me play which I appreciated. She's my Dads sister, and her and I are closer than Dad and I are. She came to see me when Evan and I were performing every Sunday at Ned Devine's. My dad has never once come to see me perform in any band I've ever been in. Anyway, I was stoked she came and brought my younger cousin Devin. I think he's almost 16 or so.

So yeah, we played earlier. We actually all stood out back and smoked a cigarette. Afterwards we put our arms on each others shoulders, put our heads together and got pumped up. We were blue-balled with energy. The second I hit a chord on my guitar everything went crazy. Jumping around, standing on the drums, dancing.

I had been toying with the idea of getting off the stage or stage area and dancing with the people. 9 times out of 10 when we play everyone is dancing, but last night hardly anyone was. But this SUPER hot chick came down and was trying to get her boyfriend (some guy in a suit...looked rich) to dance as well. He didn't want to so she danced by herself. I said to myself "fuck it...if he won't dance with her, I sure will!" So I did. I didn't really want to get one over on some guys girlfriend, but she was all over me. Dirty dancing like mad! I danced with her on a few different songs. She would do the "pull with an invisible rope" thing and I couldn't resist.

After our 1.5 hour set she wasn't around, but I didn't mind. Besides, she had a boyfriend. But after we loaded our equipment up I sat at a table with some people that come to our shows a lot and a guy said "Dude that was funny as hell! You don't know what happened do you?" I didn't, so he filled me in.

Apparently he was in the bathroom and the boyfriend came in behind him. Then the chick came in (yes...into the mens bathroom) after her boyfriend asking what his problem was. He said "I told you to go dance...not fuck the guitarist!" hahahah! So what does she do after that? She came back and danced with me some more. He apparently came and said something to her and stormed out. She still kept dancing for a minute, but then left. That's fucking funny.

So yeah, it was a great time! On the way home I noticed an SUV that was slowing down on the road right off 66 near my house. I pulled up and asked if they were ok. Turns out they were about to run out of gas. They were some black chicks driving to Winchester. They had some kids in the back seat. I went ahead and drove one of them to the gas station and back to the car. They were floored by the fact that someone would help them. Really? Who wouldn't help someone out like that? So yeah...interesting way to end the night.

Last night I went to the Herndon art space to see some musicians and talk to the guy that puts it on about promoting earsauce and even doing some acoustic shows for his project titled "Re-Mastered" that he's putting on every Friday night. He actually approached me which is a cool feeling.

I met James and his new girlfriend Liz who he met online. She was nice. His sister, Linda, came along too which is always nice. We went to Outback for dinner first. I asked the waiter "so, are you baby back ribs breast fed or formula fed?" He said "I don't even know how to respond to that" but he was laughing. When he asked if I would like a salad I responded with "No thanks! I just had one for breakfast." Everyone found both statements funny as hell. It was great.

Afterward the art studio show we went to see Byrn at Carpool. I was kind of tired and may have just gone home, but by friend Pete saw me standing by Jimmies earlier in the day and yelled out the car "Steve! Get down to Carpool!" Luckily I made a phone call and got myself and my friends on "the list" so we didn't have to pay the cover. Unfortunately Byrn played early and I missed them and there was some rave bull shit playing. James and peeps went ahead and rolled out. I stayed for a few just to say hi to a handful of people but headed home. Well, I stopped by Corens house for a minute. I slept great being that I only got 5 hours of sleep!

Before I left for Moms house I got a call from Caleb that he dropped his oil cap down under his motor. I knew he had to get to a funeral in Williamsburg, so I went and drove him to Pep Boys and grabbed some lunch. Now I'm at moms house watching The Stand. WVU will be playing in about an hour...we'll probably lose. But that's fine with me. Making it to the elite eight and winning the Big East championship is a pretty good season!
