RIBBIT! I'M A MOTHA FUCKIN' FROG BIATCH!

Forget everything I said about being bored with my band. Last night was fucking epic.

We played at our spot…Jimmies Tavern in Herndon. We played 2 sets. The first was like an hour and a half. The 2nd was about an hour and a few minutes.

The first set we went balls to the wall. My energy tanks were all full. That’s how I love to play…jumping around, going nuts, making stupid jokes to the crowd. Love it. We also did some musical magic, as I call it. We ended a jam song perfectly and as the last notes were being held out I came up with a little riff on the spot. The band caught on and we jammed on it for a few minutes. Turned out the riff was similar to one of our songs and we transitioned it into that song.

I guess no one can really appreciate that unless you’re a musician, but playing a straight 15-20 minute jam with a mix of original songs that has never been rehearsed is a satisfying thing.

It’s interesting actually…most of our songs are written as shells. We fill in the gaps when we play them, but we don’t have a set way to play them. That rocks. Plus, we’re never afraid to completely improvise on a song. That’s a comfortable feeling. It’s like “hey, btw - you guys have to play for like 4 hours” no problem. We’ll make some shit up. We definitely improved a few songs last night. One somehow turned into a Blind Mellon song at the end.

Unfortunately, I was a bit drained for the 2nd set but all was still good. I got to do some crowd favorites on acoustic before we went back on…Sweet Caroline (which btw, I kind of hate to play these days) as well as “Fuck Her Gently”. We did some older songs I had written for the old lineup on the 2nd set. It was fun. The song “Here I Go” has been getting a really good response. We may have to put that on our demo.

We made some t-shirts. Some large people wanted to buy them, but we didn’t have xl. So we sold zero. Still cool that someone was interested.

Yup, so I got home at 2am this morning and was early for work today. I rule. Definitely helps that I can’t drink much when I have to drive. I definitely enjoy having a nice buzz while playing shows, but I enjoy not being in jail, and not having a hangover much more.

Work today has been busy. I actually had energy this morning, but it is waning. 3:00 cant come fast enough. I think I’m gonna chill at home tonight and play some Resident Evil: Directors Cut old school PS1. Maybe partake in something that rhymes with gerbil.

Well, gotta go figure out where to store 2 huge truckloads of mulch. Fun fun!
