I was out of town this weekend. Went to visit family and such. The highlight was spending a few good hours with my uncle mike. It was great conversation for maybe 5 hours straight. Very enjoyable.
The rest of the weekend was with my grandmother and other people. Nothing to really say about that.
An odd thing did happen on Friday night though. I got a facebook message from a chick I haven’t seen or talked to in probably over 10 years. The email popped up on my phone. It simply said “hey. Text me. Here is my number.” So I texted her “ok. Why am I texting you?” She was bored and in traffic so she claimed. But then it got deeper…I found out she had recently gotten divorced. Ahhh…now you see why she’s contacting me. Next came odd questions like “so are you dating? Married? Have kids?” to which I replied something along the lines of “so…are you trying to ask me out or what?”
So we said we’d get together next weekend or something. That’s cool. No problem. Wouldn’t mind catching up or something, but she’s been acting a bit odd. Lot’s of random texts. Texting “goodnight” and shit like that. Yesterday while driving home with Mom, she sent a text that said “I’m on lunch break, call me.” I didn’t. But she did call later that day while I was putting away groceries. I’m not good at talking on the phone with people I don’t know. So I got off the phone quickly.
But last night it just got fucking strange. She started sending me random questions that started ok I guess, but just got irritating. Here are some of the questions in order and my responses…
Q: Where are we eating next week?
A: Somewhere that is open. I don’t plan that far ahead.
Q: How often do you smoke?
A: As much as possible.
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: I’ve never really thought about it.
Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: See previous answer.
This is when I started to get bitter. The rest of the responses were one word answers, and I would intentionally wait 30 minutes or an hour to answer…Do you like baseball? Do you like to cook? Do you like that beach? Do you like camping? Do you like to dance?
I’m all about getting to know people, but isn’t that why you go out? I got a text like an hour later saying “I’m going to sleep. Goodnight.” I didn’t respond to that one.
So I’m supposed to go out with weird fish sandwich this Saturday (btw- I haven't even gone out with her and she already has a nickname. that's not a good thing). I’m secretly hoping my band gets a show, or I get another offer to do an acoustic show with our singer (which actually happened this weekend).
