While down at thejbear's and Barry's in Apex we had major line of storms come through. I could tell something was up with the severe thunderstorm watch that was posted and watched the thick, red glob moving in our direction. What a stormy day. Just had another lightning strike moments ago while typing on the Mac and the thunderous boom was enough to literally shake the monitor on my desktop here.

Home weather station recorded 2.46" of rain yesterday. I can't remember the last time I saw that much rainfall in one day at this location. Just like the last 2 days, the storms are building all over the place and moving in for another wave this evening. Could get another 1-2". Had a great time with plannerbear (met him for the first time in person) and davegrrr. Received tons of SMS messages on my phone this evening with all of the severe weather alerts back home. Looks like it was an afternoon and evening full of thunderstorms and heavy rain. Was looking at the radar earlier and noticed multiple lines of storms trailing over Durham. Just checked my rain gauge on my home weather station and it recorded ( Read more... )

After this torture of a day with the heat (hit a high of 91 and heat index of 96 according to home weather station at 4:00pm) a few thunderstorms have drifted into the area. Getting some good lightning now within a mile and some flickers of power. Hope we get some significant rain out of this.
