Made my way to the hotel with
labrown and his coworker. Got a bit lost when we got off the Metro and none of us could remember the actual name or where it was. Took a few steps in one direction and saw the sign! Got to my room and crashed. At that point my head really hurt and just feel like crap. This is very routine for me with any kind of traveling and don't know why it happens. Fortunately, ibuprofen knocks it out pretty quick and later got some food.
Oh, yeah, I don't know what I was thinking that I would be so close to Dupont Circle. It's like 1.5 miles away--not 2 blocks. :( Oh well, that's what the Metro is for as it will be me there in 2 minutes.
While using the cell phone for Internet access worked OK on the train, it totally sucks in DC. Latency is through the roof (like 400000ms). Fortunately, USENIX already has their stuff setup and I can get full wireless access for free in the conference area.
Going to crash here soon and then figure out where I want to go sightsee in the morning. Open to all suggestions. Considering Washington monument, Arlington Cemetery and Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Sounds kind of dark, I know, but it moves me in different ways and it's one of my ways to pay respect.
