More from the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

Went to see Poster Boy and Amnesia yesterday. Poster Boy was pretty good as it portrayed a gay son of a NC senator in the middle of a campaign that comes out. A bit bard to track the characters, but overall worth seeing. Amnesia did not sit so well with me, but others liked it. It was just a bit abstract for me at times and left quite a few questions.

One of the biggest things I took from Amnesia was how people must re-identify themselves as they're coming of age. The same process happens when gay people come out. They've had years of being programmed to what is normal for so many years that when they finally accept things their whole identity needs to be rebuilt from scratch in some cases. We (gay or straight) are so easily programmed by our society that it can be difficult to establish our own identity.

Boy Culture is still my favorite pick from the weekend.
