It's bad enough turning 40, but another thing when you turn 41--another step further beyond 40. It was a low key day with a nice long walk in the cold (36°F/2°C) with a stiff breeze.
I had dinner with mom, dad and
healingdrysuits (brother) at
Caffé Luna in downtown Raleigh (locals just call it Luna). None of my family has been there before and it's been a few years since I've been there. It's excellent Italian food and I have some tasty leftovers for later today. I hardly ever get into downtown Raleigh and every time I go there it seems like it's a little more grown up and the skyline is a little busier. I like it.
Went back home to parents house to have some chocolate layer cake. I got a new apron, some nice cutting boards and also an unexpected surprise of a nice 4-cup chopper/grinder that should get some use very soon as I cook more. Soon we were all tired and brother had some new issues to deal with and had to leave. I headed over to Dave's where we finally exchanged our Christmas presents and just hung out for awhile catching up on things.
I did not feel all that well later on and I knew what it was. That caesar salad for dinner came back to bite me as I feared so that kept me up until about 1am. Got to remember that salad is a MAJOR trigger for my IBS--must avoid it unless it's in very small quantities.
