I once was the 'keeper of the keys' to what was our department's vehicle, a Chevy Astro van. I kept that old clunker up far better than the other company vehicles, and it was somewhat in demand as a result. When she hit the 100K mark, I had a party in Vanna's honor (it was a white van - hence the name, Vanna-white...get it?). We had a nascar-themed ice cream social after work. Invitations were sent, and I served Rocky Road ice cream. It was quite a hit.
I've crossed the 100,000 mile mark on a couple of used cars I've owned, but the only new car I've ever had(1996 VW Golf GL) I drove off the lot with 36 miles on it. I sold it 9 years later with 196,000 miles on it. For $3000! Original price was about $15,000. Most I ever spent on it was an O2 sensor ($~300 installed) and the timing belt ($125). I love German cars!
