Life update.
So, besides starting heated political debates between my friends via Livejournal posts, I have actually been doing things lately.
So, here's the update on my life, in case you were curious.
I've been furiously searching for jobs. So far it's led to a lot of conversations with technical recruiters which turn out to lead to jobs which sound totally uninteresting. I do however have two pretty promising prospects. This Friday I've got a phone interview with Shell Oil. I know, I know... Me, the guy who was completely dead set against ever working for an oil company. Well, it's hard not to consider them when they're the ones who call you and say they found your resume on Monster.com and they're interested in you. Anyways, so, the job would be a process engineering job at their refinery in Michigan city. As far as I can tell, it would probably be a pretty interesting job, and besides, being a Chemical Engineer, my eyes go wide and I begin to drool at the thought of the sheer size of the distillation towers and other equipment they have in refineries. Read as: I'm a nerd and huge distillation towers, pumps, compressors, etc. seem really awesome. As far as the location is considered, I can't say I'm too terribly excited about living in Michigan City, Indiana, for the sake of Michigan City. However, on the weekends I'd be able to take the South Shore line into Chicago for really cheap. Also, I'd be about an hour and a half away from Kalamazoo, a city which I still love. Also, I'd be on Lake Michigan. So, I've got the phone interview with them this Friday morning, and if that goes well, I probably hear back from them in about a week to see if they want to fly me down to Houston for a real interview.
The second potential Job opportunity is with the John Zink Company. Basically they specialize in process control and pollution prevention equipment for burners/boilers/steam generators. As far as I can tell, the job might not be as interesting, it's really hard to gauge. I had an impromptu phone interview with one of their HR people yesterday who requested that I send him my resume and a short memorandum/cover letter about why I think I would be a good fir for the company and why it interests me. I sent that e-mail out to him at about 2 pm today, and by 3 pm I had a reply stating that they want to fly me out to their offices the week of September 15th for an interview. Oh, I forgot to mention that they're located in Woodland, California. It's about a half hour northwest of Sacramento, and about 1.5 hours northeast of San Francisco. That's where the job would be located. So...

In other news, I'm actually dating someone these days. Her name is Sasha, she lives in Kalamazoo and I met her about a week and a half before the end of July. Despite the fact that I now live in Clinton Twp. we've been managing to get back and forth to see each other. She's really great and I like her a lot.
I guess that's really all that's worth mentioning at this point in time.
