Wow, the internet's not as fun as I remembered. I think I'm likely rusty; I can't for the life of me remember what exactly it was that I used to do on here for hours on end...I think part of it was chatting, and I've totally forgotten everyone's screen names in the three years (gulp) since I had actual, real, internet. Thank God Whitney's father came over tonight twice from Charlotte to get the damn wireless set up, though, because intensely absorbing or not, it was irking me to be paying the whatever dollars a month & not actually have the internet working.
Work is still going mostly great, although today wasn't the best. I believe the words "Shape up or ship out" actually came out of my mouth first block. =S Well, honestly! They had a quiz today that I announced last Wed., & Thursday I literally sat there with the quiz in my hands and gave them the exact format, with references to pages and notes to study (as I always do). They had a three day weekend! And, no joke, 80% of them handed in blank quizzes. Another 10% answered a couple of questions only. Out of two classes, I'd say about four visibly studied. Furthermore, their only other homework, besides studying, was to research three facts about Vergil or Aeneas; how long does it take to Google something? Again, about four or five kids out of two classes did the research. They were all, "We didn't have time!" I said, "I worked Saturday, and was here Monday. I had a one day weekend, and I managed to get all your quizzes made and copied, as well as the rest of your materials. How is that?" And then the real flipping out began. I seriously said the shape up bit, as well as something along the lines of, "When you get your grade, you will have earned whatever it is." Ugh. On a more positive note, I think some things are finally starting to click for the Latin IIs; I think they're finally beginning to adjust to my expectations for them and some of them are really rising to the challenge. It gives me hope for the rest of them.
Sorry, for most of you that must have been about as thrilling as having your face sandpapered, but it's my life now, what can I say.
I'm so stoked to have this hand-me-down computer from my brother! Not only can I actually have internet, but my iPod software finally works! I've been filling my iPod the last two days and I'm not quite done. It's so crucial for at work, or like now, because my roomate goes to bed at 8:00 (she has to be at school/work at 4:45 in full dress); she's so considerate in the morning and I never hear her, so I figure keeping quiet is the least I can do. I hope all this typing isn't loud!
Mmmm, Beaujolais Nouveau & DJ...really help fill the loneliness. =P All right, all right, I should hit the hay, too. I get up pretty darn early myself.
Send me your screen names!!! And music recommendations!!!
