regretting the lack of ladies-in-waiting

After the incident with Saracen and the crocodile, Lady Tamarind stepped out quietly and went in search of accommodations. Like one of the many people she'd met had promised, the Mansion happily accommodated everyone, and she found a suite of rooms that was most suitable.

Now, as the hour draws late again, she has just finished setting out her cosmetics on her new dressing table, and moved to the parlor. On a fine walnut table, she sets out a mortar and pestle and several small bags from her recently recovered reticule. It's been a while since she had to do this for herself, but she still remembers how.
