New Thursday, new week! MAN! I feel a little tired today but otherwise I feel pretty good.
I don’t have a project due this week, so I can use that time to work on lesson plans! I have one for group project due in week 6 (I’m in week 3) and one due for week 4 (which I can apparently use for my practicum and final). Still, it’ll be nice ot have this week to work on them so I can get ahead in my work.
Studying has been slow for the CSET but I have been studying. I’m feeling a lot more confident about concepts but still uncertain of certain processes (ahahahah, math why?!) I’m not sure how to go about studying geometry or algebra without doing problems by hand but then there’s so much that I’d have to cover it doesn’t even seem reasonable. Still, I feel a lot more confident with some sciences (there’s so many branches I’m at a loss). I also have a lot more teacher experience under my belt now which will help too. Essay questions are geared more towards teaching the subjects so I also need teacher knowledge (I lacked it before). But I’m feeling more confident about that too. I suppose it helps that I’m a compulsive studier.
In other news, I got a new laptop. I’m quite content with it. It serves pretty much every purpose I would need and doesn’t freeze up constantly. I’ve had Vincent since March 2007 - he lasted me a very long time. And I still have him in case Hades (the new one) decides he wants to be a troll or crap out on me. Vincent still works but not without pain (for both of us). And he seemed quite happy to be retiring as he worked better in the last few days than he has in years. My only complaint with Hades is that for the first time in 6 years, I have a full keyboard, so everything is shifted slightly to the left. I hit “numlock” every time I try to hit backspace. It’s going to take some adjusting but I think I’ll manage.
It’s been very helpful this morning that I’ve been writing! My hands are getting a lot more used to the new board. But my left wrist is on fire because how I hold my hand when typing now! But, I’m not hitting numlock any more! (Not sure if worth it for the sharp pains.) I’ve tried adjusting how I sit, moving the laptop, and holding my wrist more or less straight but it’s not helping. SO, I think there’s still much to be adjusted to. It’s really weird to have a fully keyboard, but I’m also very excited about it.
I feel very productive this morning! I’m determined to make this last all week!
Tech support for GCU is always so helpful! I couldn’t get my text eBooks to open so I had to call! Within 10 minutes they had me opening my books. Yes! And with my books read, I’ll be able to answer discussion questions. Booya! That’s done too. So, now I just have responses and lesson plans to do. Not too bad considering it’s my “Monday”.
