11.27:
Ctrl+Alt+Del ended. The artist decided it was time to do a revamp and is looking forward to new prospects for their writing. I’m looking forward to that too.
I have to admit I’m a little surprised by the ending, but it does make sense. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it’s nice to see a character finally have to accept responsibility for their actions. I know too many people who hurt those around them without consequences, who hurt themselves, and who just don’t care. It’s frustrating to be around and it’s hard to deal with. I don’t believe that Ethan ever set out to really destroy his friends or himself (and I know a lot of people who do things along similar lines aren’t necessarily trying to hurt others either) but I do feel like he really needed to see what he was doing. At some point a person has to realize they need to change or that their actions are hurting others. In some cases the change comes too late.
On the other hand, it’s hard to let go. Even if someone is constantly hurting people and themselves, you still know ‘em and appreciate them for the small good that they can do. Actually, the whole thing makes me think of my Uncle and I probably shouldn’t be taking a comic so seriously. But if a story didn’t touch your heart, it may not be a good story.
I really enjoyed the dynamic of Ethan, Lucas, Zeke, and Lilah, so now that it’s not a focus I worry I’m not going to enjoy the story as much. It’s not like they’re going away indefinitely, they just won’t be the focus. I think of all the things that could have happened, but it just wouldn’t have worked out as well. Certainly, there would be value, but I think there would be less. I’m still quite shocked. I wasn’t expecting an ending, necessarily as a “to be continued”. Plus, in the long run, I’m glad that Lucas and Lilah were both able to live happily. Different than what they had planned, I’m sure. But not bad.
One of my days off. I really need to call my advisors.
11.28:
Called my Teacher advisor, not in. Again. Ugh. On an upside, I did get work appropriate clothing, so all I need to do is figure out what qualifies for my practicum hours. Thinking about calling J again to see if he can help me, but I have to be able to get a hold of him. (sigh) AH! S called me and so I got what I needed~
Let’s see I need:
15 practicum hours, two different classroom settings, 7 ½ hours in each.
Playing Tales of Graces f, I only need four more trophies! The Gentlemanly Triumph for completing all inn requests, beat fodra queen in sixty seconds (future arc), max eleth mixer (7500+/9999), and obtain all other trophies.
Overall feeling pretty good. It’s relieving to finally get a hold of my advisors and figure out what I need to be doing. Apparently my practicum hours are part of my final! So I’m wondering if I should break it up into a couple of hours every week rather than doing it mostly at once. Especially considering I need to create a lesson plan and such. It also looks like I can take one of the exams I need here in town!!! YAY, I’ll just have to make sure that it stays the same until January 2014 when I actually do my student teaching.
