Writing Updates: Changes - Shades of Gray
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: Grimoire of the Rift
Long title is long. ANYWAYS. I really enjoyed playing this game. It’s a lot like the first one battle wise, class wise, quest wise. So it’s all very familiar. Although, I thought this one was better. I thought the characters were just better. The story was nicer too. I like that Luso was concerned with moving forward, looking to the future even though he didn’t know if it would be good, bad, hard, or easy. He was writing his story, I liked that a lot. He wasn’t concerned with too many things. In fact, he just enjoyed seeing new things and he learned a lot about himself. He liked to help people and he was generally out going. I also like that when his friends told him he could do something, he’d believe them. He’d argue a little when Cid would say “You can do this” and then Adelle and Hurdy would join in on Cid’s side. Finally Luso would nod and be like, “You’re right! Because you guys are gonna help me!” So I really like that aspect. Luso could be a bit arrogant, I’m thinking in tournaments he was always like “we’re not gonna lose!” But otherwise, I’d say he was fairly laid back. I like him a lot better than Marche.
Unfortunately, it looks like the only friends the kid had were in Ivalice. So when he leaves, he has to say good bye to everyone. Except Adelle who refuses, but Luso was okay with that. I think the Luso and Adelle friendship is cute (and shippable).
I was able to get Vaan, Penelo, Al-Cid, and Montblanc. But the last two are only available after you beat the game. I still about a few quests to do, there are 300 I believe. I did 246ish. So I can go back and finish those up later. I didn’t get all the espers I wanted but I didn’t need them. The assassin’s ultima masher technique makes the end boss easy to beat. Of course, I love to spam my Illusion magicks and espers too, so she really didn’t have to do a lot of work. Overall, I didn’t have any trouble with any bosses. And that could have been because I was over leveled. Luso was level 59, the others in the party were a little higher.
I got all the job classes too. I thought it was a fun game. I played it obsessively. I remember being terribly bored with the first one and finished it at level 30 in 30 hours (I checked the data because I wanted to see the difference in class art). This one I pretty much doubled everything. If the time’s not enough to show how much I enjoyed running around, I don’t know what is. I’d definitely recommend it ot anyone who has played FFTA or FFXII. They actually succeeded in making Vaan less of an idiot and maybe even a little bit cool. He’s definitely no Balthier, but, he’s taken a page from his book. Penelo is still bland as ever. And I love seeing Al-Cid talk his way into the clan.
Glad I finally broke down and picked it up.

After beating FFTA2 I picked up Baten Kaitos Origins again. I’d been playing for almost 18 hours according to my save file. Only it was logged for three years ago so I had no idea what was going on. I started over. Sagi’s adorable. Baten Kaitos is one of those under loved games too. But the art’s so good and the characters are great. For both Origins and Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. Origins is the second one but it takes place twenty years before Eternal Wings. Kind of confusing, but, I enjoy them anyways.
I also started reading A Man for All Seasons by Heather MacAllister last night. Anyways, it’s one of those cheesy romance novels. Cherri and I got each other one for Christmas as a gag gift (I got her The Officer and the Proper Lady). We opened them early because mom was having a bad day and she and dad got to open presents to cheer mom up. Mom got Eclipse, courtesy of Cherri. And Dad got Season 1, Volume 1 of Thundercats, courtesy of me.
Anyways the books they’re ridiculous on so many levels. But anyway, Urk. I’m only three chapters in. I’ll just summarize with: I don’t like the way it’s written. And I have to get this out: Marlie get your head out of your ass; you whine way too much. You want things to change, change them. Ty, you need to run. Done. I swear if the author uses manly man to describe Ty one more time, I’m throwing the book. With my luck, it’d bounce off the wall and smack me in the head and I’d be knocked out. I’m just gonna type up my thoughts as I go along - like I did with Empress in August. I like this reading a book a month thing though! It’s enjoyable. And I can see how I don’t want to write.
