Today mark’s Mikari-chan’s birthday. It is because of Mikari’s birthday that I started writing every day. I started writing every day on July 5, 2007. It was my first year in college, I needed a break, and I figured I’d write Mikari-chan a story. It made me sit down and finally do what I had been putting off (writing daily). So I celebrate this day for two reasons. <3 My older sister’s birthday and my writing everyday. Thanks sis! So as usual, the July 5 story is for Mikari. <3
We beat Final Fantasy VI last night! Both Cherri and I had tried to play it several times before with little luck. We’d always get to the moogles, get bored, and turn it off. So as you can see we never got very far. We started playing Dissidia again and I had been going through a “Final Fantasy Fever” where all I wanted to do was play Final Fantasy games, but, I didn’t think it would be “okay” to play games I’ve already played and beat. So I decided I should finally play II or VI being as they’re the last two that I own that I haven’t beaten. Now I just need to beat II and XIII, though I don’t know if I’ll ever own XIII. Need to camp out at Pengtwin’s and borrow his PS3 and FFXIII. Okay I got sidetracked! So we picked up FFVI and decided this time, we’d beat it.
Overall t he story was okay. I felt it was slow and the character development was bad (I’ve decided Square sucks at developing characters). I enjoyed playing the game overall because I was playing with Cherri. She played as the Twins and I played as Terra and Setzer. We got all the espers, easy.
And we only died twice! XD The first time was using Setzer’s slots - I got three bars and he summoned crusader, we were at a really low level, we only had about 600 hp. Crusader did 2k to everyone. This did not deter me from using his slots repeatedly in the future. We also died against the Fire Dragon, in my defense it was like midnight and I was super tired. We went right back in and beat the dragon no problem - it was just a fluke losing the first time. Maybe it didn’t help that Terra had on the Cursed Shield…(we purified it and she had on the Paladin shield when we went and fought Kefka). Although she was worse off in the fight with the dragon in the opera house because I took off her ribbon because I forgot she had the cursed shield on - we still beat it easily.
Kefka was really easy to beat. Though I don’t suppose spamming Ultima counts as much of a strategy. XD; We used Vanish/Doom combo on the last two dragons because we were feeling lazy. Cherri looked up some walkthroughs on how to beat Doomgaze to get Bahamut. She told me to use Pearl Magic. So I just spammed it. She said he was supposed to run after 10k damage. But, I just kept spamming away, he died, I got Bahamut. I only had to fight Doomgaze once. Cherri just gawked “WHUT?” It was funny.
I mentioned our main party: Terra, Edgar, Setzer, Sabin - they’re my favorite characters. Love them. Shadow was also pretty cool. Everyone else was…well if I had to take or leave them, I’d leave them.
We did all the side quests, I’m pretty sure. It took us a little over thirty hours to clear and that was with me level-grinding for hours. Cherri’d be asleep and I wouldn’t progress the story line so that she could see everything. Let me get pretty much everyone Ultima and the best curing magic. Speaking of which, I don’t know why - BUT - I would have Phoenix equipped and the person would learn Ultima. I never got that, I don’t know why Celes and Shadow learned Ultima but they did. When they learned it they had Phoenix equipped. Strago had Ultima and had used it, but…I don’t know how that would make Shadow or Celes learn it. Several characters also learned Bolt 2, and Celes learned Ice 3 without having an esper that taught it on. So I got free abilities?! I don’t know, I just thought it was odd. Not that I’m complaining, just saying it was confusing me.
I think I enjoyed the game because I could play with Cherri more than anything else. I’m sure I just repeated myself. Although the game wasn’t bad, I just found the story very slow. Which I’ve been really picky about lately. Still, I played it and enjoyed it. So life is good.

I’m going to print out my midterm and work on it today. Go through my chapters and do my study guide. I don’t know that I’ll get it all done today, but, I think I’ll do better if I can take it off the computer and sit at the table and take my time. For some reason I feel rushed when I take exams on the computer. So I think if I print it out, I’ll do better. Thankfully it only covers chapters 1-13. *eye roll* It’s fifty questions, multiple choice/short answer. I’m going to do my best.
I think I probably ought to read a book this month too. Maybe Silent Spring as I “needed” it for class. But we’ve never talked about it and there’s no work for it in the Syllabus.
I’m feeling very good today! It’s wonderful. <3 I hope you have a good day Mikari-chan!
