Writing Updates: Our Love is Loyalty - No More Sweets Before Bed (posted below)
I haven’t seen him in about half an hour. It’s not odd he’s running through my mind as I chase this idiot photographer. Some college kid, young, curious, he thinks he’s dangerous but he’s nothing but a fool. He shuts the door behind him. I can feel his heavy breathing a hallway away. I take slow steady steps, my boots barely making a sound against the metal walkway. I open the door, close it quietly. There is one other exit - a window. He’s trying t figure out how to get out, he’s trying to figure out if the drop down will kill him. I feel kind of bad for him, because he should be worried about me. The photographer whips around to see how much time he has before I’m there. He pales dramatically. My hand rises, he tries to hit me with his bag. He falls lifelessly to the floor, his screams echo in the room, falling onto deaf ears. He looks like a twisted mess, his soul swirling about his body. His spirit ready to bolt. I have to smile; it’s been a long time since anyone’s been so stubborn. He had several partners. His soul disappears into an orb settling into the bracelet on my wrist.
I shut the door behind me as I take a deep breath. The second has a bucket, my hands extend - barrier coming up, but it’s just paint. Red paint, and I’m going to be annoyed if this gets on my suit. I seize him by the arm, my gloves take the brunt of the action, now stained in red paint, my eyes burn with a deep fire, and his body begins to freeze from the inside out. He falls to the floor, his body shattering on impact. I kick through the pieces then close my eyes to scan for anyone else. I get nothing more than bright blue eye and a smile. Our work is done. I see him waiting for me; he waves as I step down the staircase taking a second to glance at the third, middle door.
The warehouse belongs to the boss; it’s not so bad having to wait for him. My partner is here, dressed in his sleek black suit, his blonde hair a thick contrast. He’s the only reason I’m really here anyways. But he simply smiles at me as he looks from one door to the next. One is etched in blue paint; I can’t fathom why, the other in red. He removes his black leather gloves covered in blue and tosses them into the nearest dumpster. He looks at me and I do the same, his smile grows a little wider.
“Blood?” he inquires.
I shake my head, “its not dark enough love. Idiot kid tried to slow me down with paint. Paint of all things.”
He muffles a laugh, “They are getting more stupid by the minute.”
I nod and take his hand leaning up against him for a moment. The car pulls around the back, the boss steps out. I hide my sigh and disappointment fairly well. He is a large round man in a stupid red suit. We do not break our affection right away and the boss says nothing. When he reaches the middle door he looks back.
“What happened here?”
Sam replies disinterestedly, “We did our job.”
I lean up to kiss him and he smirks, we join our boss. I hand over some photos from my jacket, “Photographer.”
“Dead?” the boss inquires.
“Worse.” I coo. He quirks an eyebrow, I sigh heavily, “Though I suppose the short answer is yes.”
“You couldn’t just say that?” Boss asks irritably.
“You wouldn’t appreciate her skill.” Sam answers for me. Though he seems excited by whatever I have done. “One ought to be thankful he can pay us so well.”
“You shouldn’t threaten the boss.” I playfully scold pulling his tie. It’s not really like I care what happens to him. Sam’s right, the only reason we’re here is because he pays us well. There is no loyalty between us and him.
And as though the boss isn’t there at all he replies back, “Then he shouldn’t say things deserving of them.”
The boss clears his throat, “We’re moving on now.”
“Go ahead,” we reply together, “Everything’s safe.”
Our emotions shift fairly quickly. We both recognize the scent of death far too easily.
“What a pain.” Sam yawns and glances at his watch. “I bet that they’re already here.”
“It’s true, they are.” I answer, “But I don’t want to fight them. It’d be easier to let them come to us.”
“You just don’t want to split up.” Sam says, “Not that I do either. Still boss man can’t do anything other than throw money at people, and the beasts here don’t like it. What’dya think?”
“I think we let him do whatever he wants, and we retire.” I nod softly, “That sounds good. I’m getting tired of them. And him too. You’re the only thing I’m not bored with.” I look up with sad eyes, feigned of course, and he wipes his thumbs as though I’m crying.
“What’s already here?” the boss inquires hotly.
We ignore him.
“They’re annoyingly fast and they’ve seemed to team up with others.” I sigh and he pulls me close. “What if we don’t survive?”
“We will.” Sam offers, “I’ll make sure of it.”
“My hero~!”
He pushes my chin up, our eyes meet, “My love.”
Unfortunately we have to turn to look at the idiot boss when he starts shrieking like a child. He won’t leave us alone his other two guards now getting irritable as well. But we’re just too involved in each other to care about the rest of the world. We’re just too tired of fighting battles for some rich idiot. And we’re especially tired of fighting vampires and specters. It’s just too much trouble to convince them that there really is better prey out there. And I’m tired of putting my neck on the line instead of doing what I want too. I’m just a selfish little brat. I’ve reasoned its okay because Sam hasn’t told me otherwise. And it’s not like he helps because he spoils me often. The boss looks at us, his eyes supposedly threatening.
“Be wary of the looks you give us.” Sam advises, “You must realize we have no ties or loyalty to you and when I’ve had enough of your screaming she will kill you.”
I smile my hand fiddling with his tie, “You’re so patient. Can’t we just get this over with?”
“What?” He looks back down at me, “But then we’d have to kill Dumb and Dumber too. I say let’s split up to take out the vamps, and then meet back up when everyone else is dead. This way we’re not staining your beautiful hands with the blood of idiots.” He kisses my fingers. “Sound good, the vamps’ll kill them, specters aren’t a problem for you - so, we’ll meet back up in say half an hour. Then we can retire.”
“What about the boss?”
“Ah well, they’ll mostly likely die trying to protect him. So, they die, he dies - then it’s just a matter of taking some information to your sister for a retirement fund.” He pulls his sunglasses off and puts them into his jacket pocket as it’s getting darker.
“That sounds good to me.” I nod, “You’ve had a lot of time to plan this all out.”
“I’ve had a lot of time to think about you.” He winks and then turns to the boss, “Any problems with the plan?”
“The part where we die.” He argues. “You’ll do your job.”
“Quadruple.” I hint.
“Ah, yeah. Quadruple our pay.”
The boss shakes his head, “Preposterous. You traitors deserve nothing.”
“Can I just put a bullet in his head now?” I inquire my hand gun releasing from its resting place.
“I think you ought to let the vamps do it, babe.” Sam disagrees, “It’ll be much worse for him. Or!” He grins, “You could do that soul thing.”
“What use would we have for the soul of a dried up money bag?”
“What use do we have of a college photographer?”
“Specter feed. Oh.” I nod, “Maybe you’re right.” [/dream]
There was another part we were just trying to convince a child she wasn’t a vampire because her clothes smelled like garlic (therefore she couldn’t be a vampire and they couldn’t touch her). We had to go through this house with this secret door that led to a small hallway with four rooms. One was a dressing room, the other like a theater, the other two were bedrooms, and the theater could also be a kitchen. But it doesn’t make any sense at all. So I didn’t type it up. But apparently we were Turk/Vampire hunters or something. That’s where our boss, who looked oddly like President Shinra with Brunette hair got all his money. We got rid of terrible beasties. At some point he was just gone, and it was just me and my partner trying to meet up again. We’d meet then get separated and so part of the dream was also just trying to get out of the mansion/warehouse to get back together so we could take some information to Mikari so we could all retire. Specters fed on souls, so it was a good thing to have a supply around. Cherri apparently made me this bracelet that could store the energy before it returned to the life stream so that specters would leave us alone. They could only eat one soul before they were happily content and it took three or four (the whole group) to eat one soul. So having a stock was a good thing.
My plan today is to beat Spectral Souls. I made of bunch of
Lux Pain icons. :D (Also posted some at Plot_Whole)
It’s my last day of vacation. Need to eat and shower, then its game time. :D
