Writing Updates: III - Fate
I beat Black Sigil last night! I’m so happy. I really liked the game overall; it had good characters, music, and a fairly decent story line. I really adored Kairu, Nephi, and Vai. The girls were alright, and Nym really grew on me at the end. Doll, was optional, but I found him to be fairly plain. There was nothing about him overly epic at all; in fact he was just there. I really liked the brother attitude that Rogurd and Nym developed over the game too (NO! Rogurd need Nym! - In Nym’s own words). Nym doesn’t speak very clearly because he doesn’t talk with people that often, he speaks with spirits really well though and its because of him we can get both optional characters (he’s a summoner too). I also like when he improves his speech and the first thing anyone says is “Good job buddy, you’re doing great!” and it’s Rogurd. The character development for the main cast is fairly good, you can definitely tell they all care for each other, but then you can also see who they get along with the best. One of my favorite scenes is when you take Rogurd to Tradefair to get the Sigil helmet and he talks the shop keep from 100k to 20k on the price. And Nephi mentions that Rogurd puts even him to shame. Of course pretty much any Nephi scene is very cool. Unfortunately Doll and Vai have less scenes being optional characters, but there were a few with Vai. Nephi has the best lines, and I loved when the party picked on Kairu mercilessly for getting a love letter. They were NOT kidding when they said it was a TRAP. Anyways, yea, all this stuff is really non-spoilerish. The trap and the talking the shop keep price down is part of a side quest.
[thoughtsonendingZOMAfinally]FINALLY a game where the adopted brother and sister don’t fall in love! Kairu and Aurora are raised by the same guy (Averay) so they have the same father but, they’re not at all related. In some games they still fall in love etc, but not in this one. In Black Sigil they find their own respective loves and fight like siblings throughout the entire game. I loved it! I’m actually a supporter of both couples too! Kairu and Isa is cute they’re both fairly awkward around each other, and finally at the end battle Kairu says he doesn’t want to lose her. And even later (the ending) Isa says she’ll keep Kairu out of trouble and Vai (her father) says something like “well I suppose you could do worse than Kairu…” and Kairu’s just like “O_O;;” And Isa says something like “That’s none of your concern.” And for some reason I really like the Aurora and Nephi coupling. I think it’s just hilarious to see her parade around as his personal slave (as is required when she first finds out he’s the cruelest, most evil dragon king) and she always seems to put a small wrench into Nephi’s plans and they end up working better for it. Of course she’s usually being sarcastic but Nephi always seems to take her words as sincerity which makes it funnier. [/spoilers]

Had to drop three classes this term. *le sigh* But one class is better than no classes. So I’m going to get my Natural Sciences class out of the way! I can really focus on it and get a good grade, I’m actually a bit worried about it. But with only one class I can study, study, study! Got my class materials ordered and hopefully on Monday we can get it all paid for. I’m feeling very good today.
Tomorrow I should be able to get my rose wand on tinier me. So I’m happy about that too. I logged in and was like “Whut? I only have three bouquets?! I should have FOUR.” SO, I tried logging in several times with no luck of the number increasing.…slipped my mind I had one of the bouquets equipped. So my brain is good and gone which means it’s a good day for games. I can be a magical whatever and do anything. Who needs logic and reality?
