Well, Eagle in Exile was fun, but kind of overwhelming. I was not quite in the groove. Saw several people but didn't get a chance to talk to some of them as it got crowded very suddenly and I had to leave. I did, however, run into several local friends, as well as a hot biker I'd spent some time with at Sturgis a few years ago, and that was fun ( Read more... )

Their flatbread could use some work, but everything else was great.

Jewish french toast: In a little suet, brown some chopped onion. In a small bowl, mix an egg or two with enough milk to make the mixture smooth. On top of the onion, put something savory (salami slices, kipper, etc.) and some sliced mushrooms. Saute and turn a little. Break a matzo in coarse pieces, put them in the egg mixture, and immediately pour that over the other stuff, and cover the pan with the plate you are going to eat it from. Drain the condensate from the plate into the sink, not into the pan. When the mixture becomes firm enough, cut it in quarters with a spatula & turn them over. Turn off the heat, and add salt & pepper. By that time it will be finished.

I was particularly excited by their little basket...so I've been on my knees pretty much the whole day.

Glad to hear that Ted's surgery went well.
I'm thinkin' I'd like to get down that way, there are a number of people in So. Cal I'd like to see, but I just don't know when I can swing it.
