So far it's been an excellent and very busy weekend.
Friday evening we went to a sheep roast in Jordan, which was pretty random and pretty delicious. Some of the Mexicans had prepared most of the food - a sheep, guacamole (mmm), rice, tortillas, chips, salsa, and then there was also chicken, meatballs and potato salad. I'm probably missing some of it, but the important part was the sheep. Because it was so random. And served by the handful - mmmmm, food heath & safety! lol. It was nice to be part of the festivities and see Jeff interacting with his workers - always a funny thing with his non-Spanish-speaking-skills.
After supper, we headed over to our good friends Mike & Beth for a random visit, where Beth and I were soundly beaten at Sequence by the boys, much to their great delight.
Saturday we slept in, and had a delicious late breakfast before heading off to meet Danielle & Timothy for a beach day. We drove out to Port Burwell and spent from around 12:30 - 6:00 at the beach. The waves were big, and there was a pretty strong current in some areas, which is always a bit disconcerting/exhausting, but it was a lot of fun and we all survived the waves and quite thoroughly enjoyed the day. Coasting with the waves and relaxing on the beach with a good book - ahhhh, what a way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
We went to Yin's Chinese restaurant in Waterford for dinner on our way home, which was delicious as always (though something we ate did NOT agree with my stomach, as I was up pretty late that night feeling sick and didn't sleep very well). D & T came to our place for a while in the evening after supper and we played a ridiculously long game of Skip-Bo, which was fun also.
Sunday afternoon we stayed home and took a small nap in the afternoon before heading out to Jordan for Immanuel's evening service, where we met up with Rach and Mike and the rest of the Mussche family. We headed back to R&M's place for a BBQ and then to Port Dalhousie for some spectacular Canada Day fireworks. It was the boys' first time seeing fireworks, and they did really well. I thought for sure they'd be scared of the loud noise, but Aaron was actually laughing at it at one point and they thought it was pretty cool. There were some neat fireworks I'd never seen before - they would explode into a ring of light with a shape in the middle - a heart and a smiley face. It's amazing what they can come up with. I really have no idea whatsoever how they make fireworks - how do they know how they're going to appear in the sky from what's in the actual stick that gets set off? My small brain will never comprehend it, I'm sure!
This morning Tom is out fishing with a fellow from our church out on Lake Erie. Hopefully they're being safe and having a good time and getting along well. I'm catching up on housework that was left undone all weekend, and then this afternoon we're heading out to Richmond Hill to a birthday party for our dear friend Peter. It's nice to see him and Bri after they've been gone for 9ish months to England!
Anywho. My tummy is telling me it's lunch time, and I've got some more laundry to run yet, so off I go!
