From someone who just came back from there, There are multiple Smithsonians so you'll need to narrow that down :) The Holocaust takes all day, no joke.

If you want to go to the white house, make sure you have contacted your congress reps. That's the only way you'll get a tour. It has to be done 6 weeks before you're scheduled trip...

Be prepared to do a TON of walking.

No white house for me. :( I didn't know you had to contact your rep. Which is dumb, really. I should do that at a later date.

I'm super excited, and I live in NYC so I'm used to walking. :D

Yep, because of security reasons, you have to contact one of your reps. We were very lucky because someone canceled (we didn't do it 6 weeks ahead of time, only about a month)... I'll post pictures shortly. Let me know if you want info about the mall/museums I got lots of it. Or places to eat too :)

~ The Dubliner one block up from New Jersey and First (I don't remember the cross streets for it)
~ Union Station has some great places to eat!
~ Pot Belly's. They have several locations
~ Old Ebbit Grill (675 15th St. NW, near the white house)
~ Poets and Buss Boys (not sure of the address) was amazing!

Those were the main restaurants we ate at.. there was an Italian place but I have no idea what the address (or the name) is. I know it was downtown somewhere...
