The annual meme. Not a particularly prolific year, by the look of it (eight stories, one drabble collection, and a revision) -- or maybe it's just that there are fewer but longer fics. Ah well.

Commentary section
Favourite story this year: The Open Sea and the Sky, I think. It was a bit experimental, but it came out pretty much the way I'd hoped. The structure that evolved let me try a couple of things I'd wanted to try -- interleaved timelines, and an attempt at somewhat more elaborate description.
Best story this year: Again, The Open Sea and the Sky -- simply because it achieved what I'd hoped, in that it told a tale that seemed to slot into the canon universe while only touching on the main characters in passing.
Most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Possibly Twenty Shipping Drabbles, which was scrambled out a few days before DH so that the bizarre pairings would at least be canon-plausible for a few days -- and thus got lost in the wash of "don't show me spoilers!". Oddly, I think most of them remained as canon-plausible as they ever were -- some of them would actually work as the basis for a longer fic, I think. :)
Most fun story: Erm ... I'm not sure, there weren't really any comedy fics this year. Twenty Shipping Drabbles is the crackiest.
Sexiest story: By default, The Right Time, being the only NC-17 story I've ever written (or planned to write). Even there, it took about 9000 words before the characters would just shut up and get down to business.
Story with single sweetest moment: Hmm. Not too many of those, really, but perhaps the Remus-Luna embrace in the Department of Mysteries in The Dark Side of the Moon?
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Why do I get the impression that this meme was originally started by a writer of kinkfic? Oh well, some of the pairings in Twenty Shipping Drabbles were decidedly weird (portrait sex, anyone?).
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Hmm. Of that lot, The Dark Side of the Moon perhaps -- it's the first time I've written Remus since DH came out, and the secretive, bit-of-a-git version required by that story actually seemed to fit in well with the development of him in canon.
Hardest story to do: Unmarked took over a year to actually get around to finishing. Does that count? Otherwise A Measure of Danger for the reasons below.
Easiest story to write: *checks back* To Dwell In Dreams. One of those short pieces based on a simple idea that you just go for without too much prior thought, and which come out quite straightforwardly.
Biggest disappointment: Probably A Measure of Danger. I had enormous trouble trying to get a plausible adult!Luna voice, and equal trouble trying to find something for her to say in it that wasn't utterly banal.
Biggest surprise: Maybe the
hp_holidaygen fic, which was done in a bit of a rush (because the original assignment email vanished into the ether, and I didn't realise the deadline until the modly reminder post) and which I was reasonably pleased with when I sent it off -- but which has drawn a few unusually enthusiastic reviews (a pleasant surprise).
Most telling story: Still not quite sure what this means! Good place to brag about comment on one aspect of Unmarked, though -- it got good press from both slashers and non-slashers, which indicates that it hit a mark (er, sorry, no pun intended).
This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most: Theme? On the whole, I try to avoid repeating themes too much in case it bores readers. :) If 'working hard to be canon compatible' counts as a theme, then The Dark Side of the Moon -- it's a badfic premise from the nature of the challenge, but I was rather pleased with the way it could be made to fit.
A story I want remembered: Well, any of them, of course (this is fanfic; if people can recall a story a week after it's posted, you've done well). But The Open Sea and the Sky is a story I'm just fond of.
