Well I've not posted for a little while, so here's a round-up of lots of bits and bobs.
1) Exam results are officially in. I'm particularly chuffed with the dissertation and performance marks as they are the highest marks I've ever achieved in English Lit. They go as follows:
Contemporary American Lit - 64
Canadian Lit - 65
Gothic - 68
Henry James - 69
Critical Practice: Poetry - 71
Dissertation - 73
Critical Practice: Performance - 83
2) HarperCollins work experience went really well and lasted for 2.5 weeks. I managed 2 weeks in the publicity department and then did a couple of days in editorial and production just to have more of an over view of other areas.
3) I've had an interview for a Publicity Assistant job with a small literary publisher (Atlantic Books) on Thursday, which went quite well (I hope). I was extremely tired after travelling 7.5 hours on the train. Silly thing was 3 hours delayed. It was almost like how many types of delay can I shove onto one journey:
a broken down freight train in front
points failure
fatality on the line.
Anyways they delayed the interview by an hour and a half so I could make it. But it was all very exhausting as then after 2 hours I had to make the last train back to Edinburgh. *sighs*
4) I graduated!! Michael Palin and Catherine Lockerbie (head of Edinburgh Book Festival) received their honoury degrees.
5) I went to Prestonfield house with both grandmas, mum, dad and step-dad (Scott) for a graduation dinner, which was immensely delicious.
6) Aidan spoilt me silly by giving me an ipod nano as a graduation present : )
7) I managed to obtain a chest infection. Well it's a viral upper respiratory infection to be precise. I know this so well because I had a bit of a scare on Friday morning as coughing up blood and things led to a trip to the hospital, where they were worried I had some form of blood clot. Though 1 chest xray, several blood tests, 1 heart tracer, several urine tests and some other general tests later it was concluded to just be a virus. I can tell you I was relieved!
8) I managed to attend the leaver's ball, which I really didn't think was going to happen. Due to it being on Friday but I made it looking quite good no less (well supposedly).
9) I've had a gloriously lazy weekend doing pretty much nothing other than drinking tea and listening to records and poking around on the internet. It's great to have a rest.
10) Tomorrow I start work on my Henry James and Margaret Atwood paper, which is a little scary but I'm excited to get my teeth into some studying again. Though another dissertation effectively does seem like quite an undertaking. I need to do something good whilst I'm unemployed though!
