Christmas was pretty low-key for me this year, which is perfectly fine. I got most of my holiday celebrating out of the way at Calabash's christmas party on friday, and on Saturday Ian and I went to his house where we loafed (and I met his mom and half-brothers finally! I GUESS THAT IS PRETTY IMPORTANT)
CHRISTMAS LOOT:
two sets of hats and scarves (and one pair of mitten-gloves! HOORAY). apparently word went round that I have a deep appreciation for goofy hats LIKE WILDFIRE
labyrinth, the power rangers movie and the secret of nihm on dvd. I AM SO PUMPED ABOUT HAVING THE POWER RANGERS MOVIE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I hated the show when I was a kid but the movie is the most wonderful ridiculous thing ever.
the xbox banjo and kazooie game. Jeepers it takes a long time to get into this game: there is a ton of annoying dialogue you can't really skip through at the very beginning, and I wouldn't ever expect a decent plot for this type of game so why make me sit through all this shit I like the vehicle building and all, and exploring the hub world is KIND of fun once you can get past the fact that YES INDEED, THE PLATFORMING ASPECTS ARE TOTALLY FUCKING BROKEN.
BUT: I guess the point of the game is really to make goofy bullshit vehicles that barely work, which is what I am currently excelling at. My favorite so far is a horribly balanced hovercraft-boat thing that is completely unsteerable UNLESS you are in water, and then it's mostly unsteerable. I won a race with it, but I think it was mostly because I knocked a piece of the boat off and suddenly it was a little less unbalanced! HOORAY
So, yeah. I have photoshop and flash installed on the computer again, so I'm working on a new version of the Ray Smuckles Gothic Dance animation, because while I am fond of the old one, it feels kind of floaty and same-y. So now I guess I'm trying to make it look more like a dance. Still a BAD dance, but less like he's just hopping from one foot to another. SCIENCE MARCHES ON!
