Is being reproposed to the California high court this Tuesday.
I'm writing a news article for one of my classes on Proposition 8, specifically the facet of marriage and how queer people view the institution of marriage and whether they are for the proposition as a step forward in queer rights. Is marriage a vehicle for moving forward in terms of equalizing gays and heterosexuals in our society or should we focus on the bigger picture and not perpetuate an institution that traditionally set up the female as property and holds a societal status as being "another step in life towards success"?
I am kinda toying with the idea of interviewing a "yes on 8" supporter or two because this is a news article and it's supposed to be objective and let the reader decide what they think about the issue at hand. I look very queer. What if I wear this compression vest I have that makes me appear male and pass as male and introduce myself by my gender neutral name of Able? Would that help a pro-8 person open up? Would it be lying? What do y'all think?
