So the Charlie never came. That is old news. But I had some fun. I figured, like all previous hurricane's, I'd have to stay at work and help out. Nope, my boss sent me home. I guess because I am not "Special Risk", they sent me home. So I got to go home and finish some preparations. That was nice. I gave out alot of traffic cones and road flares. But otherwise, things were okay.
So my task for the upcoming week is to resupply all the stock that has been deleted. Boy am I going to spend some money. The biggest problem is, I got another potential storm headed this way.
I found out last night why Charlie did not come to Gainesville. Phil. Yes, Phil is the reason the storm turned. See my friend Phil is a bad ass Marine. He can wield a sword and make those young kids in the Marine Commercials look like wimps. So I find out Phil lands at 0930 and It is roughly an hour and 1/2 to Jacksonville. At 11 am the storms turns it sites on Ft Myers.
What I really hate out of all the storm coverage. The people who are complaining they were caught by surprise by the storm. I say Billshit. A Hurricane watch and warning were issued 24 hours plus to the storms arrival. Yet, that all failed to head it. Would a flashing neon sign on the front door of all residents that flashes when a Hurricane warning is issued work? Probably not because they would say it didn't flash fast enough to express urgency. Sure, I feel for the folks who were in shelters and the shelters failed. I feel for them because we put them in that position. If you have no homeowner insurance, that is your fault. Bottom line is folks need to take responsibility for their actions and when that choice is taken away, then you have the right to complain.
However, I think the simple solution is for Phil to advertise himself as Hurricane Repellant and offer Gainesville an at cost deal :)
