My Political rant

Jan 27, 2008 09:27

I have always admitted I hate domestic politics. Give me Foreign relations, where the answer is simple, do we bomb the day lights out of them or give them time to come around. "Cause we are American F_ _ _ Ya!!". Okay, I am not that bad, but sometimes.

But this year, the economy is more on my mind. Gas has sky rocketed since the last time. Unemployment is down, but at what cost. Our economy has stagnated and declined. The dollar is the lowest that I can remember. While I am glad we got rid of tyrants, but the problem is the world needs tyranny for the economy to succeed. Just as there must be good to counter evil. this goes back to the beginning of time.

That said, I am not happy with any of the candidates. I am registered republican. One of only 6K in Levy county. I am not happy with the democrats because they got this idea, that it is okay to disenfranchise voters. Floridans can't help that their republican controlled legislature sent the primary date earlier. Why should the voters not get their say or vote in who the party puts forward. So Democrats are on my bad side. What is next, they tell us how to vote?

I am not crazy about the Republican contenders, either. I am leaning to John McCain. Mainly because he has the foregin policy experience. He is the better known evil. I don't trust Gulliani because all he does is invoke 9/11. Romney touts his economy issues, but this is also the Gov that challenged his National Guard being Federalized and was upset because a base of his got closed by the BRAC and wanted to sue the Federal Govt. I believe that states should control their own economies. I believe a Republican president to be pro-defense and Democratic Govenors to run the states. I think State employees will get more salary that way. Look at how much Georgia has grown with democratic Govenors.

The biggest problem in Florida is that everyone is retiring here, and they all want essential services but no one wants to pay for it. Most people don't realize that the Highway Patrol is down 250 postions, with 50 positions just cut in November. How are laws to be enforced if you are reducing law enforcement when traffic increases with only 1750 Troopers state wide to investigate crashes and patrol. There is never enough time to patrol.

We are seriously out growing our pants here both at the state level and federal level. Us voters better wise up and vote for someone who can fix it.
