so uh, under the cut is yet more ranting about That Santana Thing. and also Degrassi spoilers for recent episodes, lulz.

Angeleenz: like, omq, not to elevate a ridiculous show ;P but i mysteriously had zero qualms to FIONA realizing she's a lesbian even though it's likely that it wasn't ALWAYS the writers' plan (though...who knows? for their ridicness, degrassi can be surprisingly.......surprising ;P). maybe because the show worked WITH what had already been shown in her storylines instead of, like, trying to contradict something as blatant as santana's relationships with dudes ;P

Santana's issues with guys weren't because she secretly DIDN'T LIKE DICK. she is that bitchtastic to EVERYONEEEEE but Brittany, and uh, I'm sorry, but I think her using dudes FOR SEX is like.. not a common lesbo trait. ;P
Angeleenz: and even for a worse example....while alex being a lesbian seemed, like, WAY more obvious of a retcon than fiona, they still didn't go out of their way to be like SEE, SHE LIKES GIRLS NOW!!!!!!!!!!! THAT MEANS SHE NEVER LIKED GUYS!!!!!!!, and showed her still being close with jay and stuff afterwards, so i could buy a fannish "even though she's been with guys, she IDENTIFIES as a lesbian now" argument waaaay more easily. aaaaaaand also, the show focused on PAIGE and showed how her falling in love with a girl didn't have to erase her past. so, once again, there are even ways to retcon shit without being super-offensive or erasing ;P

Angeleenz: like, one of the reasons i am like HMMM about the writers' plans with fiona (beyond the thing with that bobby dude, b/c i would guess they proooobably knew fiona was going to be a lesbian by that point) is because of her whole weird issues with declan and such from as soon as she was introduced. she def had lots of dude and relationship issues from her earliest episodes
