(no subject)
so anyone remember how I asked a while back if anyone wanted two mice? well, now I have a mouse. one of them died before I even left for California, sadly.
and okay, so here's the story. Kara and Ben have these friends. their daughters are best friends of Tessa's. they also have a son who is a year younger than Destini. he had these two mice, then apparently decided he was too OLD for them?! I don't even know wtf that's about, but whatever. his sisters took them.
but they--and they readily admitted this to me yesterday--are not good mice owners. they have hamsters, and they much MUCH prefer those. like, I went over there yesterday just to SEE this mouse, and the short time I was there, I could tell. they were way more interested in the hamsters, and even the cats. so they just.. ignored these mice. so they were all wondering if someone who would, well, care more, could take them.
I naturally got talked into it even though I was and still am not exactly excited about it, because it's STILL too soon after Benny died. but I can not leave an animal to be neglected, okay. and she's apparently already over a year old, so she may not even live very long, and it'll still break my heart when she dies, but it would break my heart MORE to just add to the people who ignore her. one of them already died with no attention, there's no way I'm letting that happen to this one. I want however long she's got left to be.. better.
I mean, she's sleepy and skittish and hiding now, so I can't really do anything with her, but I'm hoping that will change. the last time I had mice, I was young and stupid like these girls, so I was probably just as bad. (..well, not JUST as. I always paid equal attention to all types of animals.) so I don't even know how this will go, but yeah.
anyway, her name is Laoshu (Lao-shu? Lao Shu?) which is apparently, supposedly chinese for 'mouse'. The other one's name was Russian for 'mouse'. ;P she is ADORABLE and teeny and tiny and I took a couple pictures to share. :D
her cage is cute. :P
