Moved in to my new house yesterday. It was a very long day. As always I was not organised. Mum and Dad came up to help me with the move. We bought up a bit of furniture from my parents house on the Gold Coast on the back of a ute. It was pouring down with rain, so we had to cover the tray with a huge tarp. We stopped at my old place to pick up a few extra items to chuck on the back of the ute. I still hadn't entirely packed up my room and I hadn't even cleaned it, so my parents wern't too happy about the mission ahead. We dropped everything off at the new house. I gave my parents a quick tour, they liked it. We then drove back to my old place where I finished packing, cleaned my room and recieved plenty of chocolates from my (now ex) housemates. I will miss them, for all of their quirks and kindness. After we left, we stopped by the real estate to drop off my key and off we went once again to my new 'hood'. Libby, my friend from uni who I have moved in with, was there when we arrived and we all ate gourmet pizza, which was good as we were starved.
The first night in the house was a little wierd as I take a while to adjust to sounds and visual surroundings. I couldn't sleep for a while and then in the morning I got up before my alarm at 7am which anyone who knows me could tell you that that is very odd for me. We unpacked a few things, but we didn't have much time as we had to go to Chermside shopping centre to do some shopping (cutting board, knife, hello kitty toaster which puts a hello kitty face on your toast...tres cool). Then had uni. Uni was ok. Then Lib had to go back home Ipswich way, as she has kept her job until she can get one in Brisbane. So tonight I am home alone. Am I scared? Not really. I'm actually enjoying my own company...it's been a while. This weekend will be my first weekend off in such a long time. For the past 4 years I have had jobs which require weekend work every weekend. Therefore over the past 4 years, I have had on average; roughly 4 weekends off a year. So I am so so thrilled that finally I have a job with no weekend work.
I can't wait to get this house into shape, at the moment it looks like a cyclone hit. There is stuff everywhere. Friends are staying over tommorrow night and the place is out of crank. It would have been nice to have the house in order before friends came. But they need a place to stay, and I happen to have a place so I'm sure that equation is all that really matters.
