My reno has taken much, MUCH longer than anticipated. Why?
Busy me. Busy daddy. And of course, design challenges.
So where am I at?
I have my bath vanity, sink, faucet, light fixture and other fixtures. They hijacked my dining room.
I saved money by waiting for my bath vanity to go on sale at the Home Depot (go me!). There was an itty-bitty ding on one of the legs when I got it so I resurrected 'Suburban High-Maintenance Princess MaryMar' (run! run for your lives!) and got the Home Depot to give me my lovely light fixture for free. I got my towel bar, toilet roll holder and robe hook on sale for 70% off online from the Home Depot. And - score! - they match my faucet and light fixture set. I love coordination and symmetry.
I did splurge on one thing (and here I blush): Loews had the cutest little old-fashioned cut-crystal drawer knobs, so I bought them and once I install my vanity, I shall swap the knobs for the ones from Loews. They're a little Barbie but every girl needs a little frosting in the bathroom.
My bath renovation has cost about $850 including tax so far.
The design challenge? I have decided to get a professional in to retile my bath area with new 12 x 18 icy white tiles with a contrasting grey grout so that I can have less grout lines to fixate on when trying to clean. Why?
I discovered the shampoo I have been using - which is a very bright tangerine orange - stains the fucking white grout and caulking a strange shade of pinky-orange. Yay me. >:-(
