Dr. House tackles an X-File!

I would have liked this episode better if an episode of CSI from a couple of years ago hadn't turned on the very same condition. I shouldn't be able to predict the ultimate solution before House does! But this was really a character-driven episode, so it's not as big a deal as it could have been.

It would appear that the conspiracy to give House a little humility worked, at least a little bit. He took Dr. Chase's advice during the final surgery instead of endangering the child. He never used to have any compunctions about all but killing a patient if it meant solving the puzzle.

I don't know which was more painful -- watching yet another poke-through-the-eyeball procedure or Chase's "Momma's so fat" retort.

I did enjoy Dr. Foreman's suggestion that Chase was suffering from lost time during the disputed blood test -- shades of Agent Mulder. And Dr. Cameron's quizzical look when House accepted her treatment idea a little too easily was cute.

Cameron was quite the take-charge girl in this episode, wasn't she? I thought it came off more convincingly than it has in the past. It was convincing enough that Cuddy was moved to grouse about her.
