Dr. Foreman becomes exceedingly content in the wake of his near-death experience. And Dr. House just can't stand it.
Watching House fume and complain about Foreman's new lack of interest in waging verbal warfare was very entertaining. Of course, nothing can withstand a sustained assault from House's patented brand of withering sarcasm; by the end of the episode, Foreman was more or less back to normal. It seemed a little quick to me. I think the writers ought have held off on resolving Foreman's new contentedness until at least the next episode.
Dr. Chase had an interesting storyline as well. We were led to believe that he was working in the NICU because he was tired of House, when it turned out that he just wanted to earn some extra bucks because his father cut him out of the will. He had one of the sharper lines of the night, responding to House's advice with, "I'll get right on it as soon as I finish indulging my boss." And it was sweet when he chose to say a prayer over the dead baby he was about to autopsy.
The best line of the night? I liked Wilson's remark to Cuddy about his divorse, where he remarked that, "Friends have been divvied up ... oddly, she didn't fight me for House." As much as I love the way House prods Foreman with remarks about blackness, tonight's comment about coffee -- "I take mine black, the way I take my brain-damaged neurologists" -- was a little too easy.
Cuddy's fertility storyline has possibilities. What would the child of House and Cuddy look like? Not that I imagine she'd ever go that route.
